Dottoressa Gabriella Rosafio
Mayor of Bajardo. In
1992 she took up the suggestions of Associazione Bioliguria-EcoArchitettura
for the plan of redevelopment for Bajardo, and in the same year the project
was approved by the town council.
Architect Alberto
Pulinetti, well known in Italy as a specialist for the preservation of
historical sites, is putting his life into reconstructing the village core
so that the fascination of millennium-old structures will remain unchanged,
combining traditional and modern construction techniques. So for instance
solar technique will be used as a heating method, an exceptional
construction method which was developed by the Romans. The rooms are tempered and extremely
pleasant, and create no allergies to dust and mildew. Streets, steps and
squares are not only the place where people meet, but also the scenario for
the summer play, whereof the inhabitants are actors and directors.

The sculptor Renato Ausenda, renowned
well beyond the borders of Italy for his intellectual representations of
the “Meridiana” , has studied for over 10 years the styles of natural stone
walls and their changing shapes over the centuries. He would like to preserve or reconstruct
these various forms working as a site superintendent for natural stone
works. Herewith he means to
document how the village, originally built on the top of the mountain,
where the ruins of the druid shrine may still be seen, gradually moved
downwards, following the “sundial”.
