“Gentle tourism" as a starting point for
future economical and ecological development in the Alps
region.
The past ten years have seen a substantial
change regarding the ethics in the tourism industry. It
is meanwhile generally recognised that all tourism
requires intact ecological bases (Flora, Fauna, water,
air, ect.).
|
et it is becoming increasingly understood
that tourism itself can destroy these bases.
Area
sealing, destruction of intact ecological structures,
water pollution as a result of tourists use, traffic
noise, air pollution, etc. are amongst the negative
effects of tourism in the
Alps region.
However the last years have
shown that the tourists are increasingly less
prepared to go on vacation in places where environmental
destruction has come about.. They avoid the loaded
coastal regions and look for “clean” alternatives.
Gentle tourism promotes a sustainable environment, which
we can pass on to our grand children.

The
aim of this project is to demonstrate integrated
technological solutions for large scale renewable energy
integration within polygeneration schemes.
In
order to maximise the renewable energy
potential, all projects within this integrated project
will apply techniques of multiple use of the primary
energy, that is combining electricity, heat and cold
production from the same energy carrier, in Bajardo, vegetable oil.
The
optimisation and renewable energy integration into
district heating and cooling systems is of special
importance. Large scale demonstration projects will be
set up in Bajardo. Solutions for larger non-residential
buildings combining electricity, heat and power
generation will be demonstrated.
